Who are we?
New Hope Cattle Co is a non-profit that puts protein into the hands of food-insecure people in Alabama, regardless of whether or not they qualify for other assistance.

The Objective
To provide a sustainable source of protein (hamburger) to local needy families and the food banks of Alabama.

The Need
Alabama is the fifth poorest state in the nation, causing 17% of adults and 23% of children (1 out of 4) to struggle with hunger.

The Way
New Hope Cattle Co is providing the knowledge and acreage to fatten and slaughter beef for donating to local churches and food banks.
What do we do?
01
Purchase quality beef on the hoof
We purchase calves/cows that are on the cheaper end of the local market in order to keep cost down and provide as much beef per dollar as possible.
02
Feeding/fatting beef
We house and feed each beef for a minimum of 60 days to ensure that they are healthy and will provide quality meat.
03
Slaughter dates
We have pre-scheduled slaughter dates and provide transportation to the slaughter house.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Where does the meat go?
Currently, all the hamburger stays in Lawrence County, Alabama. We are hoping to branch out as funding increases.
How is the meat distributed?
Our local church picks up the meat from the slaughter house and distributes to families picked by the church.
Is it USDA certified?
Yes. We have implemented a monthly schedule with regional USDA-certified butchers. Butcher dates are often scheduled a year (or more) in advance to facilitate a reliable rotating delivery schedule.
Why hamburger?
Simply because it is easiest to transport and think of how many different meals can be made with hamburger.
How fresh is the meat?
Beef reaches hungry families within days of being picked up from the butcher, making it even fresher than what the average consumer purchases from a grocery store.
Can you help?
Yes, you can. We accept monetary donations as well as beef on the hoof and feed and other supplies.
